Hello all!
   I hope this message finds you all doing well! My apologies for not posting in the email chain earlier. I did a post on the Facebook group. Emerald City's Book Club will have its first meeting next Tuesday, July 27th, 2021 at 7:00 pm via Zoom to start.
We will likely chat for about an hour. The plan is to read 3 chapters a week for 8 weeks and then we can choose a new book. The book I've picked to kick off this book club is called "Who killed Buster Sparkle?" By John W. Bateman It's a story of a black straight ghost that finds out a white southern Belle trans woman named Ms. Peaches is the only one who can see and talk with him. Depending on group size we may shift some of the meetings to in-person spots and will still have a virtual option to connect each week. Here is your homework if you want to join the book club. Get yourself a copy of the book or an audio copy. Try to read the first 3 chapters, but please don't stress you can still come to the book club meeting, you just might get some spoilers. Then join Zoom for that first meeting coming up. I am really looking forward to reading along with y'all and discussing each week to see who killed Buster Sparkle.

Feel free to email me directly with any questions or concerns you might have about the book club.

Much love and gratitude!

Seattle's 1st Trans Picnic!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to all folks who are trans, non-binary, gender-nonconforming, two-spirit, and anyone else under those umbrellas.
We don't have enough gatherings for our local trans community, so let's come together and change that! Come as yourself! Have some food, hang out in a trans space, maybe make some friends. Please share with other trans folks who'd be interested in attending.
We'll plan to be behind & to the left the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
We'll try to put up some trans flag-colored decor so you know you're in the right place.
Google Maps location of Volunteer Park: https://goo.gl/maps/7xHQGEnXuFzbRX5Z9
• On Metro Bus line #10, near line #49
• One mile (~20 min walk avg) from Capitol Hill Light Rail station
• Small amount of parking in the park; otherwise, there is street parking all east, west, and south of the park.
Bring your own:
• Food (if you can)
• Drinks (if you can)
• Blankets or chairs (if you want)
• Any fun park/picnic activities you'd like!
We'll have some individually-wrapped food and water available (bring a cup or bottle if you can!). Please leave a comment if you'd like to bring something to share! We'd like to be as COVID-safe as we can, so no "potluck" style food, please.
Some notes:
• This event is not affiliated with any group or organization, this is just our community coming together.
• Please no photos of people at the event without their permission.
• Also, please be cool. Be supportive of each other (especially those of us in other marginalized communities), listen to each other, respect each other. That said, the community won't tolerate racism or other hate/oppression.
We look forward to seeing all your amazing faces there!
Emerald City's first in person event will be our  ECSC summer picnic to be held on Saturday, August 21 at Dash Point State Park picnic shelter 1 from noon till 5pm or later.  This should give you plenty of time to plan.
Hope to see you there,
This picnic was so fun! It was awesome to meet new people! It was my first time attending any trans event.  Thanks for organizing it! I look forward to future events. I had hopes of exchanging info with folks but all of a sudden there were too many people and I got overwhelmed, LOL but I hope to see any one I met today again in the future!
Description:
Download a karaoke app for your phone or computer and join us for an evening on Zoom. Stingray karaoke on YouTube is good. Use "karaoke" on your song searches. Or just sing over one of your favorite songs. Bring your own food and drink. A few notes on doing karaoke via ZOOM (if you want to sing). ZOOM does NOT default to a karaoke friendly mode. Follow these steps: 1. Use the computer version. Open ZOOM and click on the settings gear on the upper right. 2. Select Audio on the left menu bar, DESELECT "automatically adjust volume" in the middle of the page. Go to "Advanced" at the bottom right. 3. Select "show option to 'enable original sound' from microphone." Close settings window. Double check that your computer doesn't have any other software that may be filtering background noises. Double check all settings adjusted thus far to ensure they didn't get changed back to defaults. 4. If using external speakers, orient them towards the mic. If not, Use Zoom's Share Screen option (on bottom) to share computer sound. Consider recording a private session on Zoom to learn the balance between computer audio and mic. I suggest starting at an audio slider at 80% and mic slider at 90% on Zoom's audio settings. 5  If needed, go to YouTube or wherever you find your karaoke, size your windows so that you can see your karaoke window and ZOOM. If needed, launch several tabs, one for each song you wish to sing, get any ad out of the way, and pause until it's time to sing. 6. Join the ZOOM meeting. 7 When it is your turn to sing, click  on the "turn on original sound" box at the upper left. It should turn from grey to blue. If you need to use computer sound as noted in step 4, now is when you activate it. If needed, exit full screen in ZOOM, reverting back to the resized window. 8. Start the song. Sing. Remember YouTube may go elsewhere when the song ends so stop it. A tutorial on all that is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbMMsBW5Taw&fbclid=IwAR3hCJghluiaO6minF0K9_eJoxL3ol_ddQ3GGDRYvddQd2ALGyk_Vh5hOqg Join Zoom Meeting https://washington.zoom.us/j/9484325685 Meeting ID: 948 432 5685 One tap mobile +12532158782,,9484325685# US (Tacoma)
Saturday, July 17th, 2021 1:00pm to 5:00pm: 1st Seattle Trans Picnic at Volunteer Park, Seattle
Seattle's 1st Trans Picnic!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to all folks who are trans, non-binary, gender-nonconforming, two-spirit, and anyone else under those umbrellas.
We don't have enough gatherings for our local trans community, so let's come together and change that! Come as yourself! Have some food, hang out in a trans space, maybe make some friends. Please share with other trans folks who'd be interested in attending.
We'll plan to be behind & to the left the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
We'll try to put up some trans flag-colored decor so you know you're in the right place.
Google Maps location of Volunteer Park: https://goo.gl/maps/7xHQGEnXuFzbRX5Z9
• On Metro Bus line #10, near line #49
• One mile (~20 min walk avg) from Capitol Hill Light Rail station
• Small amount of parking in the park; otherwise, there is street parking all east, west, and south of the park.
Bring your own:
• Food (if you can)
• Drinks (if you can)
• Blankets or chairs (if you want)
• Any fun park/picnic activities you'd like!
We'll have some individually-wrapped food and water available (bring a cup or bottle if you can!). Please leave a comment if you'd like to bring something to share! We'd like to be as COVID-safe as we can, so no "potluck" style food, please.
Some notes:
• This event is not affiliated with any group or organization, this is just our community coming together.
• Please no photos of people at the event without their permission.
• Also, please be cool. Be supportive of each other (especially those of us in other marginalized communities), listen to each other, respect each other. That said, the community won't tolerate racism or other hate/oppression.
We look forward to seeing all your amazing faces there!

Good morning Christy,
Sorry for the delay, am working nights until July 12th and just saw the email. Thank you for contacting me, it's been discouraging being new to the area and having such a hard time meeting others to do things with. I lived in a shell for so many years prior to transitioning that I'm ready to live and would love to have friends to do things with. Hope you are sleeping well and have a great weekend. My Facebook link is https://www.facebook.com/anna.mfd if you are interested?
Thank you,
Anna

Good afternoon,
I'm Anna, 53 trans female, and am new to Seattle after escaping from the Southeast US. Would love to be able to meet others and make real friendships and participate in group activities. After covid am like most people suffering from cabin fever and eager to be able to go out and do things again. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your group and hope to meet you one day.
